Dyke Marsh Wildlife Preserve
One of the largest tidal freshwater marshes along the Potomac River, Dyke Marsh Wildlife Preserve is home to ospreys, herons and red-winged blackbirds and is a perfect spot for kayaking.

LBJ Memorial Grove/Lady Bird Johnson Park
The memorial to President Lyndon B. Johnson includes 17 acres of trails and grounds for picnicking. Lady Bird Johnson led a campaign to beautify Washington, DC; her park is known for its beautiful scenic views and springtime flower displays.

Arlington House  
Arlington House was the home of Confederate General Robert E. Lee and his family for 30 years. It is now preserved as a memorial to General Lee and is located on the grounds of Arlington National Cemetery.

Arlington National Cemetery  
Hallowed burial ground for America’s fallen military and one of the most visited tourist sites in the Washington area. Individuals from the Revolutionary War to those who have died in current military action are buried here. Visit the graves of President John F. Kennedy and his family, marked with the eternal flame.

US Marine Corps War Memorial / Netherlands Carillon
The Marine Corps War Memorial is a statue depicting the WWII flag-raising on Iwo Jima. Near the statue is the 50-bell carillon presented to the US by the Netherlands in appreciation of support during WWII.

Clara Barton National Historic Site
Clara Barton, founder of the American Red Cross and a tireless provider of aid to wounded troops during the Civil War, dedicated her life and energies to helping others in times of need.  She spent the last 15 years of her life at Glen Echo in Maryland, just north of Washington, DC.  The home is administered by the National Park service and preserves the early history of the American Red Cross.
