Washington, DC
The forties are still fabulous at downtown’s District Chophouse and Brewery, a warm, intimate gathering place near the Verizon Center serving steaks, chops and seafood and featuring handcrafted beers from the on-site brewery.
Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant’s tradition of on-site brewing and fresh food in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere make this a great dining spot.
With 500 bottled beers, Bier Baron is bound to have what you’re looking for.
Maryland
Set in a grand Mt. Vernon townhouse in Baltimore, The Brewer's Art offers fine beers brewed on the premises, a carefully picked selection of beers and fine wines from around the world and one of Baltimore's best selections of scotches and spirits.
Enjoy the house beers as well as excellent culinary creations at Brewer's Alley, the first Brewpub in Frederick County Maryland. Frederick is also home to Flying Dog Brewery. Take the two hour brewery tour including five sample tastings and a commemorative glass.
With four Maryland locations there’s no excuse not to visit DuClaw Brewing Company. Be sure to try one of DuClaw’s staple beers: Alchemy, Bare Ass Blonde Ale, Hellrazer, kangaroo love, Misfit Red, or Venom.
Growlers in Gaithersburg offers house brews including IPAs, ales, lagers, pilsners, porters, stouts and even a barley wine. The food is just as extensive, including soups, salads, pizza, pasta, burgers, sandwiches, pork, beef and chicken.
Stop by the English style tavern at Johanssons Dining House in Westminster. All of Johanssons premium beers are made fresh at the Dining House and are completely natural with no chemicals added.
Virginia
Visit and tour Old Dominion Brewery in Northern Virginia, the Washington area's first micro brewery established in 1989. It currently produces twenty-four beers including Tupper's Hop Pocket and Wolaver's all organic beers and one soft drink, Dominion Root Beer.
Sip your brew from the deck overlooking Richmond at Legend Brewing where staple and seasonal microbrews are on tap.
Care to make your own beverage? Take a trip to the Shenandoah Valley to Queen City Brewing in Staunton.
Capital Ale House, with three locations in Richmond and one in Fredericksburg, offers 46 to 80 beers on tap and 250 bottled beers. Each location carries two cask conditioned ales. In addition to the requisite pilsners, lagers, and ales, other choices include: Double & Imperial IPAs, porters, Belgian style ales, barley wines and lambics.
